- Color:
- any color although all white, mostly white, liver, and black and tan are not encouraged. The nose must be black.
- Temperament:
- These dogs should be courageous, tenacious, friendly, extremely attentive, and extraordinarily devoted. They are highly stable around both children and other domesticated animals. They are good guard dogs.
- Grooming:
- The smooth, short-haired coat is easy to groom. Brush on a regular basis with a firm bristle brush, and bathe or dry shampoo as necessary. This breed is an average shedder.
- Training:
- This breed can be difficult to housebreak. Properly trained and socialized, the Staff makes a great family companion. This breed is not for the passive owner who does not understand that all dogs have an instinct to have a pack order.
- Exercise:
- They have plenty of energy and need regular walks with enough space to run. They are great at chasing balls and weight pulling.

- about 10 - 12 years
