- Temperament:
- Leonbergers are very loving and great with children. They are very large but are adaptable and don’t take up much more space when curled up to sleep than any other medium to large dog. Like any dog they ask for nothing more than to have a daily walk and bit of brain stimulation. Aggression comes with improper training when young or bad experiences that they may have had. Treat them right and you have a wonderful, loyal, loving friend.
- Grooming:
- The coat needs to be brushed and groomed on a regular basis to remove any dead and loose hair.
- Training:
- To become excellent family and watchdogs, Leonbergers must be well socialized as young puppies and extremely well-trained and under the control of their people at all times. It is difficult to train a dog that has been improperly socialized. They do well in obedience, agility, as therapy dogs, in water rescue work, and in many other outdoor activities, but it takes lots of patience, training and work.

- Leonbergers are high-energy dogs and need daily exercise and play sessions.

- around 10-12 years
