- 40-55 pounds (18-25kg.)
- Height:
- 18-20 inches (46-51cm.)
- Color:
- All solid colors except white are acceptable
- Temperament:
- The Shar-Pei is dignified, calm, and confident, aloof with strangers, and a bit arrogant. He can be difficult to train unless well-socialized and obedience trained from an early age. Once he learns that he is not a top dog in the family he will accept his place and become a dependable, devoted companion and child's playmate. Although he is considered a consummate watchdog, the Shar-Pei should never be aggressive to people or other dogs.
- Grooming:
- The Chinese Shar Pei has a short and harsh coat that should be regularly brushed. Their coat tends to shed only during molting periods.
- Training:
- The Shar-Pei’s independent nature can make training a chore, as the dog is unlikely to obey anyone it sees as weak or not in control. It needs a confident owner who can provide firm, but gentle and extremely consistent training.
- Exercise:
- The Shar Pei is moderately active dog that needs regular daily exercise.
- Life Expectancy:
- around 10 years
- Litter Size:
- average 4-6 puppies
